Reno House Front Porch Makeover

We’ve been working hard over the past couple of months renovating a house that we will sell. Our focus has mostly been on indoor demo, but we wanted to tackle some of the outdoor projects before it gets too cold.
We gave the front porch a makeover with a few simple updates.

1. Front Porch Steps

The front porch steps were in pretty rough shape so we wanted to clean them up. We started by using concrete patching to fix some of the holes and missing pieces on the steps. I used a spatula to smooth the concrete patching on and let it dry overnight. We wanted to get the concrete as flat as possible so I sanded down the steps. Once it was as smooth as possible, I used Behr Porch and Patio Floor Paint to paint the steps black.

2. Handrail

The handrail is a brown vinyl and our plan is to get new white siding with black trim so we wanted to change the handrail to match. It was already in good condition so we decided to just spray paint it black to match the trim the rest of the house will have. I did two coats and it went on so smooth and the handrails looks so much better.

3. Doorbell and Door Handle

The doorbell and front door handle were both old and rusty and definitely needed replacing. We went with black to match the rest of the trim and it looks so good with the brown door.

The Result

These little changes made such a big difference. We couldn’t wait to see what it would look like with the white siding so we painted the existing siding to give us a better peek at how it will look.

It looks so good and with the black trim it’s going to really make the house pop.
